QUETTA: The walk-a-cause was organized by Fatimid Foundation Quetta chapter marking the World Thalassemia Day here in the premises of Balochistan Institute of Nephro-Urology Quetta (BINUQ) here on Wednesday.
The Head of Fatimid Foundation and former caretaker Provincial Minister for Health, Dr. Ameer Muhammad Khan Jogezai led the walk arranged for the cause of creating much needed awareness among general public about prevention of thalassemia disease.
The health experts as well as patients including children suffering from thalassemia disease and their parents also participated in the walk.
Dr. Ameer Muhammad Jogezai and other experts underlined the need to create awareness about prevention of the blood disease among children.
They said that the thalassemia disease is rising with passage of time, however, it can easily be prevented if the preventive measures are adopted in advance.
They said that a simple health check up for Thalassemia carrier status before starting a family can save the children from becoming a patient of the Thalassemia major, unending cycle of injections, suffering and misery.
In the end, gifts were also distributed among the thalassemic patients by the Fatimid Foundation.
