Lahore Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Ramesh Singh Arora thanked the Christian community on the behalf of leadership of PML-N, said that the Christian community offered special prayers for Mian Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz Sharif while today Maryam Nawaz has become the first woman Chief Minister in the history of Punjab. After taking the oath, she made it clear that she is the chief minister of all and today the women of the Christian community should feel proud that their representative is a woman chief minister of Punjab who promised to empower women. Ramesh Singh on behalf of the Christian community while congratulating the chief minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, assured that the minority of Pakistan will always stand by its leadership. These views were expressed by the provincial minister on the occasion of participating in a prayer ceremony of a Christian community at FGA Ground, Kot Lakhpat on Sunday. The provincial minister further said in his address Maryam Nawaz Sharif instructed me that the protection of the rights of minorities must be ensured at any cost. There are 3.3 million religious minorities in Punjab for whom I will work day and night and with the special efforts of Maryam Nawaz, under the Minority Development Package for the next four months, development schemes of 850 million are being launched, including renovation of a church in Lahore, up-gradation of Maryamabad and Yohanabad. Apart from this, five percent quota in jobs, two percent quota in higher education also ensured. He urged to community, bring their children here to get higher education, unfortunately, minority children are not seen much in this direction. He also gave good news to the Christian community that the scholarship is going to be doubled. In the ceremony, Pastor Anwar Fazl offered a special prayer for Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and expressed the hope that a special laptop scheme for Christian students and nd a Christian package on the pattern of Ramadan package will also be given. Chairman Pakistan National Peace Committee Inter-faith Waseem Anjum Sandhu, Pastor Shaukat Fazal, Zakaria Yusuf (DSP) and a large number of Christian community attended the prayer ceremony.
