Loralai, August 3: A seminar and rally were organized by the Nutrition Directorate of the Health Department, Balochistan, in collaboration with UNICEF, Benazir Nashonuma Program, and World Food Program, to mark World Breastfeeding Week. The rally, led by DHO Dr. Hamid Lehri, started from the Nursing College Loralai and ended at the College Hall, where a seminar was held on the importance and benefits of breastfeeding, its necessity, and the role of health care providers in preventing diseases.
The seminar was attended by nurses, LHV, CMWs, vaccinators, tribal elders, and doctors. The guest speakers included DHO Dr. Hamid Lehri, Pediatrician Dr. Hanif Dammar, Cardiologist Dr. Fahim Utman Khel, District Coordinator National Program Dr. Shah Zaman Hamza Zai, SOM National Program Muhammad Uthman Musa Khel, and District Vice Chairman Khushhal Khan Kaker.
The speakers emphasized the importance of breastfeeding for children’s health and development, and highlighted the need for awareness and support for breastfeeding mothers. They also discussed the challenges and barriers to breastfeeding and the role of healthcare providers in promoting and supporting breastfeeding practices.
