QUETTA: The Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti has stated that the provision of basic facilities to the people is major challenge because of lack of basic communication infrastructure in the remote areas of province.
The Chief Minister said that the provincial government is facing challenges of governance, climate change and law and order.
He said that Balochistan faces hardships in timely completion of the projects due to slow release of funds allocated for the federal public sector development programme or other mega projects in the province.
These and similar views were expressed by the Chief Minister while speaking at a meeting held on law and order situation and development projects in presence of the President Asif Ali Zardari here at the CM’s secretariat on Tuesday.
The Chief Minister said that timely release of the funds is necessary for rehabilitation of the Kachhi canal phase-I and construction of Phase-II besides the southern Balochistan package.
He said that the timely completion of public interest development projects would be possible with timely release of the funds from federal government.
In this regard, we have lot of expectations and expect cooperation of the President Asif Ali Zardari, he insisted.
He said that we want sustainable solution to the peace in Balochistan. He said that no one can deny negotiations for preparing future course of action. However, there is a need to decide with consensus at national level as with whom negotiations are held and on what points.
The Additional Chief Secretary for Home, Zahid Saleem briefed the meeting about law and order situation in the province.
The Additional Chief Secretary for Planning and Development, Abdul Saboor Kakar briefed about the development projects in the province.
