The provincial minister Mines & Minerals Ibrahim Hassan Murad said that we should introduced best result-oriented education practices in MLW school in best interest of mine workers and their families. As the Higher education standard is need of the time while Next era belongs to IT (information technology). Introduce IT Coding in MLWC schools as per international standards. He expressed these views while presiding over a follow up meeting of welfare schemes of mines workers at his camp office on Thursday. The commissioner MLWC briefed to the minister that a unique identity number has been issued /assigned to the mine worker on the basis of CNIC by MLWC. Now, in future mine workers can easily be tracked they can easily work on any lease. Minister of mines appreciate the step and
directed to also collect family details (FRC) of mine
workers for data bank.He directed to ensure tendering and E auction in MLWC without any delay while the matter of pending welfare grants (280 cases) of mine workers and their families before Punjab worker welfare fund (PWWF) may be raised with Chief secretary, Punjab
through Secretary Mines and Mineral, Punjab
immediately. The minister said that Death grant is the right of worker families
so take all necessary measures to resolve the matter as early as possible.
The ongoing scheme regarding educational stipend for mine worker’s children shall be completed on 31.01.2024 on merits policy. Furthermore, ensure digitization of student academics records for
effective and efficient monitoring. He also directed that the ongoing scheme regarding automation of
processes, E auction, FMS, SMIS with the collaboration
of PITB must be complete before 31.01.2024. Ibrahim Hassan Murad said that the automation of MLWC is key, so all efforts put to complete this scheme successfully without any extension and delay.
The minister showed displeasure on not fulfilling the given task in previous meeting and directed to comply the instructions within one week. The commissioner MLWC pointed out that working on
joint helpline is in progress and near to completion. The minister directed to share concept paper /draft of Joint helpline in detail urgent basis. He also directed to work on Nutritional welfare scheme for the students/ Childers of MLWC mine workers in mines labour welfare school. The minister emphasized on hiring of General physician in welfare hospitals instead of orthopaedic MLWC
surgeon. He ordered to share record of surgeries of mine workers carried out in MLWC hospitals in last 10 years. He suggested that Seat of orthopaedic surgeon may be discontinued and
abolished in future and keep focus on hiring of general
physician. For surgeries, sign mou with the relevant
hospitals to facilitate the mine workers in case of
emergencies/needs. He said Prepare list of disable mine workers (who loss any body parts during mines accidents). Take steps for their rehabilitation by providing artificial limbs.
The disability grant rates for mine workers in case of
disability are very less and needs to be revised, take all
necessary steps to revise these rates on urgent basis.
Change old conventional approach of welfare and
introduce new ideology and classical approach for labour welfare. Execute the instruction on fast pace in best interest of mine workers and their families, he concluded.
