The prize distribution ceremony of the national senior and junior volleyball teams who won medals, and made the country proud in the Asian Volleyball Challenge (AVC) Cup and Central Junior Volleyball Championship was held on Friday.
Federal Secretary Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) Nadeem Irshad Kayani was the chief guest of the event held at a local hotel, while Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) Chairman Chaudhry Muhammad Yaqoob, Pakistan Sports Board Deputy Director General Shahid Islam, Saeed Akhtar and other officials were also present on the occasion.
Addressing at the ceremony, the Federal Secretary emphasized the IPC ministry’s commitment to promoting sports development in Pakistan. He announced plans to organize a conference on sports economy to attract sponsors and support various sports.
The ministry aims to prepare a targeted plan for talented athletes, focusing on Olympics 2028, and convert mini stadiums into academies to foster a sports culture.
Kayani said the aim is to convert the mini stadiums into academies and promote the culture of sports. The IPC ministry and PVF will play its positive role for the successful organization of the volleyball league in the country and will provide all possible support, he said.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) Chairman, Chaudhry Muhammad Yaqoob, praised the national team for making the country proud internationally. He outlined the federation’s plans for coaches and players, highlighting the need for increased funding to support participation in international events. He said the more the national team participates in international events, the better results Pakistan will get.
In the event, the players were awarded with cash prizes for winning silver medals in the Asian Senior Volleyball Challenge Cup and gold medals in the Central Asian Junior Volleyball Championship and bringing the name of the country to light
