QUETTA: The reunion of Alumni members of the Pak-US Alumni Network Quetta chapter was held here on Monday.
The media persons, teachers, doctors, social activists and members from different other walks of life proceeding USA under various fellowship programmes participated in the reunion.
Vice Chancellor, University of Balochistan, Professor Dr. Shafiqur Rehman was chief guest at the event.
Also participated in the event was by the Manager Alumni Affairs, Sindh, US Consulate, Karachi, Ms. Faria Fatima, President, US-Pakistan Alumni Network Quetta chapter, Mir Behram Baloch, Vice President, Salman Khan, Exchange Ambassador, Adeel Lashari, Youth Director, Ms. Saira Batool, former Presidents of Quetta chapter, Gul Khan Naseer Baloch, Qudratullah Shah, Jahangir Khan, Ms. Shazia Langove, Ms. Saira Baloch, Ali Lehri, President of Gwadar chapter, Dr. Adnan Ahmed and others.
The chief guest Professor Dr. Shafiqur Rehman appreciated the organizers of the reunion and said that such events are welcoming. He said that Pakistan especially Balochistan is a bouquet of colourful multi cultures of different nationalities and communities living there.
He was of the strong view that Pak-US relations can be promoted by projecting our beautiful culture at the international level.
Earlier, speaking on the occasion, Adeel Lashari briefed the participants about the projects successfully completed in different sectors by the alumni members including health, education, sports, protection of women rights, climate change, etc.
He told that members of the Quetta chapter conducted orientation and awareness programmes for the students in educational institutions of Quetta and different other parts of Balochistan besides Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC).
In addition to this, training programmes were also conducted for girls and teachers in colleges and schools for awareness about their basic rights and against the harassment of women at workplace.
Similarly, sports competitions were also organized under the auspices of Pak-US Alumni Network Quetta chapter in order to provide ample opportunities to the young women. An awareness walk was also organized in collaboration with the Environmental Protection Agency.
Speaking at the reunion, President of the Quetta chapter, Mir Behram Baloch said that it is an excellent opportunity for the alumni members to speak to each other and share their experiences.
He also appreciated the role of US Consulate for making the reunion successful.
The Manager Alumni Affairs Sindh, Balochistan US Consulate, Ms. Faria was also highly appreciative of the Pak-US Alumni Network Quetta chapter for arranging an excellent reunion of the members.
She also informed the participants about becoming part of the Alumni Network by taking part in different fellowship programmes under the US Consulate.
In the end, a cultural music programme was also arranged that enthralled the participants.
The Alumni members and volunteers were also given commemorative shields and certificates for showing excellent performance.
