University of Balochistan Crisis: Teachers, Employees Without Salaries for Two Months

The Democratic Panel has expressed deep concern over the non-payment of salaries to University of Balochistan teachers and employees for the past two months. Despite clear orders from the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the university’s staff has been denied their fundamental right to receive their salaries.
The panel stated that the respected teachers have become psychologically distressed due to the recurring financial struggles. For the past five years, they have been forced to protest every two to three months, disrupting the academic activities.
The university’s employees are struggling to make ends meet amidst soaring inflation. The Democratic Panel attributed the crisis to the provincial government’s failure to establish its own Higher Education Commission (HEC) after the 18th Constitutional Amendment.
