United Kingdom Higher Education Delegation Explores Transnational Education Collaboration at PAF-IAST.

Islamabad: The United Kingdom Higher Education delegation, led by Sir Steve Smith, UK International Education Champion, embarked on a significant visit to the Pak-Austria Fachhochschule: Institute of Applied Sciences & Technology (PAF-IAST) in Haripur. The delegation was graciously welcomed by Dr. Mohammad Mujahid, Rector PAF-IAST, who commended the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for its dedication to fostering a transnational education culture within Pakistan. Dr. Mujahid highlighted the institute’s commitment to leveraging collaborative frameworks for the betterment of education quality. Addressing at the occasion, Mr. Omar Ayub Khan, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly of Pakistan, emphasized the pivotal role of science and technology in propelling societally advancement. Stressing the importance of bilateral partnerships between Pakistani and UK universities, Mr. Khan underscored the transformative potential of such collaborations for Pakistan’s education landscape. In his opening remarks, Dr. Zia-ul-Qayyum, Executive Director HEC, reiterated HEC’s unwavering commitment to advancing the interests of learners and supporting higher education institutions in forging alliances with international counterparts. Dr. Zia-ul-Qayyum emphasized ongoing efforts to facilitate partnership frameworks between Pakistani and foreign universities. The visit sparked insightful discussions on the integral role of universities in fostering social integration and inclusive development. Distinguished speakers included leaders from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Universities such as Dr. Mohammad Mujahid, Rector PAFIAST, Dr. Usman Ghani, VC IM Sciences, Peshawar, and Dr. Nasir Jamal Khattak, University of Swabi, alongside esteemed representatives from the UK delegation including Ms. Joanne Purves, Pro Vice Chancellor Academic Development, University of Salford, Ms. Catriona McCarthy, Director of Global Engagement, Ulster University, and Ms. Clare Burke, Head of International Partnerships, Queen Mary University, United Kingdom. The collaboration between the UK Higher Education delegation and PAF-IAST signifies a milestone in transnational education initiatives, promising to enrich academic experiences and drive innovation in both nations.
