UNDP Assistant Secretary General calls on Chief Minister:

QUETTA: The Government of Balochistan and United Nations’ Development Programme (UNDP) have agreed upon having mutual collaboration in different sectors in Balochistan province.
This was decided during meeting of Assistant Secretary General (ASG) of UNDP, Ms. Kanni Wignaraja with Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti whom she called on here at the CM’s secretariat on Thursday.
During the course of meeting, the matters about cooperation of UNDP in different sectors of Balochistan were discussed.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister said that Balochistan is facing challenge of climate change. However, we are working on the policy about climate change in the province.
He pointed out that the extraordinary rains are causing damages to the crops and mud houses in the province at large scale.
The Chief Minister mentioned that work is continued on alternative means to meet requirements of energy.
He also pointed out towards the potential of investment Balochistan has saying that the province is suitable region for investment.
He said that the government is committed to provide all necessary facilities to the country’s and international investors through one window operation under one roof.
Speaking on the occasion, UNDP’s ASG said that district development plan has been formulated for 20 districts in Pakistan under the UNDP, which included 10 districts of Balochistan.
She mentioned that we are assisting the government in resettlement of the flood affected people as well as alternative sources of energy, rules of law and sustainable development goals (SDGs) in the province under UNDP.
The ASG assured that UNDP would extend cooperation to the provincial government in climate change, health and education sectors in the province.
