Two-day Pakistan Literary Festival begins at BUITEMS

QUETTA: Two-day grand Pakistan Literary Festival commenced at the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) here on Wednesday.
The Speaker Balochistan Assembly, Captain (Retd) Abdul Khaliq Achakzai was the chief guest at inauguration ceremony of the Literary Festival held at the Arfa Karim Hall of the BUITEMS.
The Provincial Minister for Culture, Sindh, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah as well as other eminent personalities from literature, arts, culture and journalism from all over the country participated in the inaugural session of the Literary Festival.
Prominent among them were included former caretaker Federal Minister and poet, Fawad Hasan Fawad, Noorul Huda Shah, Ghazi Salahuddin, Sohail Ahmed, Saleem Safi, Sadiqa Salahuddin, Munir Ahmed Badini, Mazhar Abbas, Shahzada Zulfiqar, Sarwar Javed, Ustad Nooral, Dr. Huma Mir, the Vice Chancellor of BUITEMS, Dr. Khalid Hafeez besides others.
Later, in the following sessions, the political and literary personalities including Nawabzada Lashkari Raisani, renowned intellectual and writer, Anwar Maqsood, film and TV celebrities Mahira Khan, Adnan Siddiqui and others joined different sessions.
Speaking on the occasion, Speaker Balochistan Assembly hailed the Literary Festival and welcomed all those participating in it from all over the country.
He said that the power of literature unites the people. He said that those use good words to express their point of view have creative capabilities.
He said that the literary festival being held in Quetta would become source of enlightenment.
He also said that Balochistan is the region of different cultures and just like a bouquet of different languages.
He said that our youth has the capacity and capability of reigning the country as such they should devote them to serve the country.
Earlier, the President Arts Council, Muhammad Ahmed Shah presented welcome address and highlighted the objectives of the festival in Quetta.
Meanwhile, different cultural stalls have also been established in the literary festival. In addition to this, a book exhibition has also been organized at the sideline of festival.
The literary festival is scheduled to continue today (Thursday) as well.
