Karachi (Staff Reporter): The role of financial institutions in providing opportunities for youth and the SME sector is commendable. This was stated by President of SME Foundation and Convener of FPCCI Sindh Regional Standing Committee for SME Promotion, Waliullah Khan, during a meeting with Senior Vice President and Area Manager of Sindh Bank, Dilawar Dakhan. He stated that by providing interest-free loans to the youth, unemployment can be eradicated from the country, as many young people are forced to leave Pakistan due to difficulties in finding jobs.
Waliullah Khan highlighted that a significant number of women and young people are involved in small and medium-sized businesses, who, through self-help, are contributing to strengthening the national economy and playing a key role in reducing unemployment. He emphasized that banks and other financial institutions should provide more interest-free loans on easy terms to entrepreneurs, so that new industries can be established in Pakistan and the country can be included in the list of developed nations.
On the occasion, Senior Vice President and Area Manager of Sindh Bank, Dilawar Dakhan, briefed Waliullah Khan, stating that Sindh Bank is actively supporting young entrepreneurs by providing loans for personal businesses. In line with the State Bank’s policy, SME sector financing is being ensured in the shortest possible time. He added that the SME sector holds significant importance in the national economy, with the Prime Minister of Pakistan particularly focused on promoting SMEs. The Army Chief has also assured full support to the business community.
Dilawar Dakhan further mentioned the need to promote small-scale entrepreneurs in the current era, which will not only help in reducing unemployment but also improve the standard of living for the people. He also noted that Sindh Bank is offering merchant account services to IT entrepreneurs who are providing services globally, allowing them to bring funds from abroad, thus increasing the country’s reserves.
