QUETTA: The pre-Hajj flight operation has been started direct from Quetta International Airport to Medina when the first flight carrying 145 intending pilgrims left for the holy land the other day.
With start of the direct Hajj flights to Medina, another milestone was achieved thanks to the upgradation of the main runway at the Quetta Airport done by Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
According to the spokesman of CAA Balochistan, the journey has been made easier for the intending pilgrims from Quetta to the holy land.
He informed that the PK-747 did first night landing at the new run way of the Quetta Airport the other day night. Later, the same flight took off for Medina from Quetta carrying 145 intending pilgrims.
Earlier, PK-6133 and 6137 flights left for Medina carrying some 300 intending pilgrims, he mentioned adding that it was a very pleasant experience to land at the new runway of the Airport at night.
It was made possible because of the 12,000 feet long run way which was up-graded by CAA recently, the spokesman of CAA mentioned.
He said that the modern airfield lighting system CAT-II ensures operations at the new run way in all weather conditions.
