October 03, 2024: The Director General NAB (Balochistan) Mr. NaumanAslam on his maiden visit to NAB sub office at Chaman reviewed progress regarding establishment, operational and other activities of the sub office on Wednesday. After detailed briefing by the Officer Incharge, the DG NAB(B) appreciated and lauded the overall performance of sub office especially awareness campaigns undertaken by sub office in order to transform the social attitude from indifference to abhorrence against corruption, building an anti-corruption coalition and putting in limelight the various aspects and dimensions of corruption.
During the visit, DG NAB (B) was also given briefing by Deputy Commissioner Chaman, senior officials of Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA’s) and other departments regarding their functioning and steps taken by them for prevention of corruption and corrupt practices. DG NAB (B) while speaking on the occasion said that sub office at Chaman was established on special directives of Chairman NAB, Lt. General (Retd) Nazir Ahmed with the aim to provide easy access for masses to lodge complaints against corruption and corrupt practices and pursue the same conveniently. The establishment of sub office atChaman, signifies Chairman NAB’s commitment to enhance its outreach for effectively combating menace of corruption from the country with special focus on Balochistan region. He said that Chairman NAB had stressed the need to establish a coordinated system of accountability at Chaman.
In a sequel to above, DG NAB (B) emphasized the importance of Chaman sub office in deterring the corruption, facilitating ease of doing business, enhancing transparency in public sector projects and fostering a culture of accountability. DG NAB (B) also highlighted that Chaman, being dry port city and main business hub connecting Pakistan with Central Asian states through Afghanistan, holds immense potential to become one of the major trade centers in future. However, corruption poses a serious challenge to unlock its full potential. To tap into Chaman’spotential, tackling corruption, promoting transparency and accountability in all matters are imperative in creating an enablingenvironment for achieving objectives of good governance.
In the end DG NAB (B) urged all segments of society, especially youth to become partner with NAB in fighting this menace of corruption through actively participating in awareness campaigns initiated by NAB against corruption and corrupt practices.
