TERRORISM AND HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS BY TERRORIST GROUPS IN BALOCHISTAN: A BITTER REALITY

Balochistan has recently experienced a disturbing event, where terrorist groups have targeted and killed Innocent civilians on the bases of ethnicity, violating traditional Baloch values (Baloch Mayar). The province has been plagued by a terrorist attack, resulting in the senseless loss of innocent lives and the targeting provincial infrastructure. Tragic incidents, such as the kidnapping and execution of individuals from other provinces working in Balochistan, underscore the grim reality and blood thirsty face of terrorism in the region. Addressing these challenges requires a collective effort to delve into the root causes of terrorism and implement effective countermeasures.
On April 13, 2024 gunmen blockaded the Quetta-Taftan Highway N-40 near Noshki district and abducted nine passengers from a bus and killed them. These people were going to Iran to work over there but the terrorist group brutally killed them, there only sin was that they were just going to earn for their children. On the next month, May 9, seven workers were killed in a terrorist attack by terror groups in Gwadar. The terrorists opened fire on a residential quarter near the Gwadar Fish Harbour, leaving seven dead and one injured.
Additionally, on August 26, at least 23 people traveling from Balochistan to other part of the country forcibly taken out of their vehicles by armed terrorists and shot dead at Musakhel. The only fault of these citizens was that they came to Balochistan to feed their children and contribute in the economy of Balochistan.
On September, 28 seven laborers were shot dead in an attack by terrorist groups in Panjgur. The tragic and Inhumane incident took place in the Khuda Abadan area, where militants stormed a house and opened indiscriminate fire, leaving seven dead and one seriously injured. Six people got killed overnight in Bolan district, including ethnic people.
The government has taken many steps to improve development projects and stop these terrorist groups, however the terrorist groups do not want Balochistan as a prosperous and safe region for investment. The biggest obstacle to the development and prosperity of Balochistan is the activities of terrorist groups who resort and sabotage Balochistan. In fact, the aim behind terrorist group attacks that Balochistan remains poor and under developed to have sources for their recruitment.
The laborers working in Balochistan are being subjected to acts of terrorism, which is not only a gross violation of human rights but also limits the development potential of the region. The question arises whether, Baloch traditions and human rights allows these brutal and inhumane terrorist activities. Does Islam and humanity allow these atrocities? The people of Balochistan need to stand up against terrorism and extremism to move towards peace, development and prosperity to lay the foundation for a better future of the masses.
As Balochistan grapples is increasing violence on the bases of ethnicity, laborer the path to peace and prosperity of Balochistan appears increasingly obstructed by terrorism and human rights violations. The continued acts of violence not only undermine the region’s development but also erode the fundamental principles of justice and humanity. For Balochistan to forge a future marked by stability and growth, it is imperative for all stakeholders including the local communities, national government, and international partners to unite in their resolve against terrorism. By following the path of tolerance, respect for human rights keeping Baloch Traditions in high easter light of sprit. Balochistan can transcend its current adversities and pave the way towards a more secure, prosperous and bright future.
