SWAT:-Police have arrested five members of an inter-provincial gang that used to loot businessmen and locals. Following a FIR lodged by Abdul Kareem, a flour dealer, who fell victim to an armed robbery on October 8, 2023. Abdul Kareem reported the incident at the Mingora police station, detailing how he was held at gunpoint and robbed of Rs. 1.7 million by unknown assailants on Gumbad Meira Pathane road. Promptly responding to the complaint, RPO Malakand Muhammad Ali Khan and DPO Swat Shafiullah Khan Gandapur took notice and assigned the task of investigation to SDPO City Amjad Khan, under his supervision, a specialized team was formed, consisting of SHO Mingora Police Station Mujeeb Alam Khan and other skilled officers.
Utilizing advanced technical methods, the police team successfully traced the inter-provincial dacoit group responsible for the robbery. The breakthrough in the case came on October 12 when a police source provided information about the whereabouts of the gang leader, Hayat alias Hayate, who had sought refuge in a relative’s house in Tangi District Charsadda.
Executing a swift operation, the police team, led by SHO Mujeeb Alam Khan, raided the identified house in Tangi. The encounter that ensued was intense, with SHO Mujeeb Alam narrowly escaping harm due to his bulletproof jacket. In the exchange of fire, the leader of the dacoit group, Hayat alias Hayate, was fatally shot and killed on the spot.
DPO Swat Shafiullah Khan Gandapur revealed that Hayat alias Hayate was not only a wanted criminal in Swat but also faced charges in multiple cases across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab for incidents of snatching. The recovered loot, valued at Rs .85 million included two motor cars and a significant cache of arms and ammunition.
