Islamabad: sep. 19.The Supreme Court of Pakistan has rejected a request by Peoples Party’s Ghulam Rasool for a recount and allegations of bias against returning officers in constituency PB-14, upholding the victory of Muslim League (N)’s Muhammad Khan Lehri.
During the hearing, Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa asked Rasool’s lawyer how he knew the results were incorrect, to which the lawyer replied that Form 45 indicated discrepancies and the officers were biased.
However, Chief Justice Isa emphasized that votes are the most important evidence in elections, and Form 45 is merely a document prepared by the presiding officer.
The lawyer argued that the presiding officers committed fraud, but Chief Justice Isa countered that decisions are based on facts, not assumptions.
The court ultimately dismissed the request for a recount, citing lack of evidence to support the allegations of bias.
