Quetta: Balochistan Food Authority’s Food Safety Teams carries massive drive against FBOs, over violation of food safety laws and provision of substandard food products to citizens in various suburbs of Metropolitan city. The authority imposed hefty fines on more than 15 food centers during operations. According to BFA spokesperson, these crackdowns were carried out for violating basic food safety laws, not having mandatory food business license, vending expired food items and, improper storage arrangements etc on Circular Road Quetta, subsequently fines being imposed on 10 dry fruit shop.
Besides, BFA Mobile Milk Safety Team conducted special inspections of Dairy Farms and milk shops at Bilali Road and Sur-Pull (Samungli Road) to test the quality of milk. Two Dairy Farms and one milk shop was penalized for violating BFA SOPs, pathetic cleanliness & sanitation and failing on-spot testing. In addition, during inspection, one Juice corner and two general stores were also fined for selling expired and substandard cold drinks and not having BFA food business license.
