Independent Report

QUETTA: The steps are continued for improving the situation of electricity supply in Gilgit Baltistan, in light of the special directives of Chief Minister GB.
The crackdown has already been started against the illegal electricity connections, shunt meters as well as against the defaulters of electricity dues and power pilferers in all districts of the province.
The general public has been appealed to pay the utility bills well in time.
In this regard, the Chief Engineer Power, Ghulam Murtaza has stated that steps are being taken to reduce the duration of electricity load shedding in the Gilgit Division.
He expressed the hope that the electricity supply would be improved as a result of commissioning of new projects in the power sector.
The Chief Engineer said that the Power Department is working round the clock to reduce the load shedding despite reduction in the water quantity due to the lack of raining and snowfall this year.
He also said that the Power Department is extremely busy in ensuring the electricity supply to the respectable consumers mainly because of the special interest taken by Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan.
For the purpose, Secretary Water and Power Sajjad Haider has also launched a complaint cell, he added.
The consumers may register their complaints on the number 05811-920309.
He also appealed to the general public to use electricity as per the requirements avoiding it’s unnecessary use.
