Lahore : Provincial Transport Minister Ibrahim Hassan Murad said that e-challan should be issued for vehicles running without fitness certificate and route permit while in this regard a joint action plan or policy should be formed with Safe City Authority as soon as possible. It should be started from Lahore city and later on enhanced to another cities also. The provincial minister expressed these views while presiding over the performance review meeting of the provincial and regional transport authority in his camp office on Wednesday. During the briefing, the provincial minister was told that the encouraging results of the overloading app are coming out while the message has been conveyed to the factory owners through the relevant district DCs that they will also be responsible for the overloading of their transport. In the month of December, 34,000 vehicle inspections were done, which was never possible in a single month in the past. It was further informed in the briefing that along with Lahore, fitness stations have been activated in Multan and Faisalabad, while emphasis is being placed on the awareness campaign about axle load enforcement. In his address to the meeting, the provincial minister said that not any compromise possible regarding route permit and fitness certificate. Violation of axle load enforcement should be stopped at all cost, expanding the system of vehicle inspections to adopt
Zero tolerance policy on overloading. The provincial minister emphasized that if there is no vehicle certificate, the vehicles should be stopped and fitness stations should be activated across the province. The provincial minister said that there is a dire need to follow the pattern of developed countries, but the transport system should be improved to control environmental pollution. The meeting was attended by the secretary of RTA and PTA along with relevant persons.
