SSUET Delegation participated in GCWOT’24 and ACTIVE Project Review in Malaga, Spain

KARACHI, October 6, 2024 – A high-level delegation from Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology (SSUET), led by Acting Vice Chancellor Dr. Munawar Hussain, attended the Global Conference on Wireless and Optical Technologies (GCWOT) 2024, as well as the post-interim review and Steering Committee Meeting of the ICT Applications for Sustainable Environmental Protection (ACTIVE) Project in Malaga, Spain. The ACTIVE Project is an Erasmus+ Capacity Building initiative funded by the European Union and led by the University of Malaga, aiming to utilize ICT solutions to tackle environmental challenges.

This year’s conference stood out with 60 technical presentations and 4 keynote speeches, covering groundbreaking developments in Wireless, Optical, and Underwater Communication Technologies.
The Chief Guest, Ambassador of Pakistan to Spain, HE Dr. Zahoor Ahmed inaugurated the conference and immensely appreciated the longstanding collaboration among the University of Malaga, Sir Syed University, and other Pakistani institutions, recognizing the ACTIVE Project’s significant strides in promoting sustainable practices. He was of the view that the conference played a vital role in fostering meaningful international collaboration on technological and environmental advancements.
Vice Chancellor SSUET, Dr. Munawar Hussain said that the collaborative efforts between Sir Syed University and international institutions like the University of Malaga continue to drive innovation and contribute to the development of solutions that enhance both technological capabilities and environmental sustainability. The event was a testament to the importance of international cooperation in meeting today’s complex challenges.
The SSUET delegation comprised Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aamir, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical & Computer Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ibrar ul Haq, Chairman of the Electrical Engineering Department, Dr. Muhammad Rehan, and Prof. Dr. Bhawani Shankar Chowdhry of Mehran University of Engineering & Technology, discussed the latest innovations in communication technologies and sustainable solutions with the experts from around the world. Internationally renowned scholars Prof. Mariofanna from the USA, and Prof. Maurizio Magarini from Italy including Prof. Pablo Otero Roth, and Prof. Enrique Nava Baro were among the dignitaries.
