Spent Rs 2.7 Billion to Manage PTI Protests in 18 Months

In a recent report, it has been revealed that the government spent a staggering Rs 2.7 billion to manage the protests and demonstrations organized by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) over the past 18 months.¹

According to official statistics, the government spent around Rs 1.2 billion in the last six months alone to manage the protests, which resulted in damage to public and private properties worth Rs 1.5 billion.

The report also stated that the PTI organized around 120 protests and demonstrations in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad, which resulted in the martyrdom of four security personnel and injuries to over 220 personnel.

Furthermore, the government spent Rs 80 crore to rent around 3,000 containers to manage the protests, while over 30,000 security personnel were deployed to maintain law and order.

The protests also resulted in damage to Safe City cameras worth Rs 28 crore in Islamabad, Lahore, and Rawalpindi, while over 220 police vehicles were also damaged. The government spent over Rs 90 crore on the transportation of security personnel during the protests.
