QUETTA: The special anti-polio campaign started in 10 districts of Balochistan on Monday.
According to the Emergency Operation Center (EOC), the campaign started in Awaran, Dera Bugti, Gwadar, Usta Muhammad, Hub, Jaffarabad, Khuzdar, Lasbela, Naseerabad and Sohbatpur.
The special polio immunization campaign, however, has been postponed in four high risk districts of the province including Quetta, Chaman, Pishin and Killa Abdullah.
Earlier, it has been decided to launch special anti-polio campaign in 14 districts of the province after presence of the polio virus in environmental samples in different areas of the province including Quetta, Pishin and Hub.
The EOC sources informed that it has been targeted to administer the anti-polio vaccine to some 0.78 million children below five years of age in 10 districts where the campaign is being run presently.
The schedule of special campaign in remaining four districts of the province would be announced later.
Needless to mention here is that no fresh case of polio has been reported in the province since January 2021.
Last case of polio was reported on January, 27, 2021 from Killa Abdullah.
