The 8th meeting of Special Economic Zone Authority Punjab was held under the chair of Provincial Minister for Industries and Trade SM Tanveer. The 5-point agenda and issues of SEZA were discussed in the meeting held at Toyota Secretariat. In the meeting, the minutes of the seventh session of SEZA Punjab were endorsed. It was approved to increase the price of plots in Rachna Industrial Park and to give Special Economic Zone status to Etihad Industrial Park in Rahim Yar Khan. Recommendations to increase the price of plots in Rachna Industrial Park along with allocating status of Special Economic Zones to Etihad Industrial Park will be sent to the federal government. In the meeting, it was decided to send reminders to owners for regularization of void plots in Special Economic Zones. Provincial Minister for Industries and Trade SM Tanveer while addressing the participants said that 18 Special Economic Zones created in the private and public sectors of Punjab are engines of economic development. 10 years exemption is provided to the investors doing investments in these special economic zones. He said that those getting plots in Special Economic Zones should set up industries on them. If new factories are established, employment opportunities will also increase adding that development of industrial estates is the top priority of the government. Additional Secretary for Industries and Trade, CEO PIEDMC, DMD PSIC and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
