Karachi, August 4, 2024: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah chaired a meeting to discuss the severe rainfall and flood situation in the province. The meeting was attended by provincial ministers, Sharjeel Memon, Saeed Ghani, Murtaza Wahab, Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, Commissioner Karachi Hassan Naqvi, Secretary Municipalities Khalid Hyder Shah, and others.
Minister for Irrigation Jam Khan Shoro and Minister for Relief and Rehabilitation Makhdoom Mehbub, Secretary Irrigation Zareef Khero, and all Divisional Commissioners participated via Zoom.
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz informed the meeting that the current spell of rain will end by tonight, and another spell of rain is expected to start on August 13 or 14.
Minister for Irrigation Jam Khan Shoro stated that the current situation at Guddu Barrage is much lower than the low-level flood stage, and no floodwater from Balochistan has entered Sindh yet. He also reported that the water level in Hamal Lake is at average level, and there has been only a 0.4% increase in water level in Manchhar Lake.
