Dadu: August 20, 2024 – Sindh Chief Minister was briefed by Minister for Irrigation Jam Khan Shoro and Secretary Irrigation Zareef Khero on the Main Nara Valley (MNK) Drain project. The primary objective of the MNK Drain is to discharge water from RD Zero Manchhar Lake to FP Bund at RD 346.

The Chief Minister was informed that five gates have been installed to drain water from FP Bund to Manchhar Lake, each gate being 10 feet wide to facilitate smooth water flow during floods. The MNK Drain has a design discharge of 1500 cusecs and is under the administrative control of the Irrigation Department.

In 1994, the MNK Drain was administratively handed over to WAPDA, and later redesigned for the systems of Larkana, Qambar-Shahdadkot, and Dadu districts. The MNK Drain is officially known as RPO-D-One.

The Chief Minister inspected the new bridge being constructed on the MNK Drain at Kari Mori, replacing the old one that was damaged in the floods.
