Sindh Assembly Speaker Awais Qadir Shah today paid glowing tributes to the martyrs of the Karsaz tragedy, commemorating 17 years since the devastating incident.

“The Pakistan People’s Party has consistently fought for the rights of all citizens, sacrificing hundreds of lives in the struggle against dictatorship and its allies,” Shah said.

He reaffirmed the party’s unwavering commitment to the vision and mission of Shaheed Bhutto and Shaheed Rani, despite relentless conspiracies against its leadership.

Shah recognized the public as the true heirs of the October 18 martyrs, emphasizing the importance of honoring their sacrifices and caring for their families.

The Speaker described October 18 as a “dark day” in Pakistan’s history, particularly for Sindh, marking the heinous attack on democracy icon Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.

Shah lauded the devoted PPP followers who laid down their lives for their leader, becoming immortal in the process. He criticized the security lapse on that fateful day and advocated for accountability.

“Former Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim should have been named in the Karsaz tragedy FIR,” Shah asserted.

This poignant tribute serves as a powerful reminder of the ultimate price paid by those fighting for democracy and the people’s rights in Pakistan.
