Karachi): Senior PTI leader and veteran lawyer Sardar Muhammad Latif Khan Khosa arrived in Karachi for a one-day visit. Khosa proceeded from the airport to the residence of PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh, where he held special meetings with PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh and other leaders including Khurram Sher Zaman, Jamal Siddiqui, Dr. Masroor Sial, Faheem Khan, Aftab Jahangir, Barrister Ali Tahir, Naeem Adil Sheikh, Mansoor Sheikh, Rizwan Niazi, Muazzam Khan, Muhammad Ali Baloch, Kashif Nizami and othgers. They discussed the current political situation in the country.
Later, Khosa visited Insaf House Karachi, where he met PTI Karachi Division President Raja Azhar, Arsalan Khalid, Secretary of Religious Affairs Maulana Jamil Azhar Vathra, ILF Karachi President Advocate Zahoor Mehsud, Sindh Women’s Wing President Serena Adnan, Sindh Labour Wing President Rana Azam, Jafar-ul-Hassan, and Rizwan Khanzada, among others.
At a press conference at Insaf House, accompanied by PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh and other leaders, Sardar Latif Khosa emphasized the media’s role as the fourth pillar of the state. He condemned all forms of violence against journalists, citing the Human Rights 2023 report that highlighted such incidents in Pakistan. Khosa announced that PTI would provide free legal representation to media personnel facing legal challenges.
Khosa stated that his meetings with Haleem Adil Sheikh and other PTI leaders were crucial for advocating the supremacy of law and the constitution. He remarked that while past movements aimed at forming or toppling governments, their current focus is different. Khosa criticized those who betrayed Imran Khan, asserting that they could no longer show their faces, and noted the public’s demonstration of change on February 8.
Khosa reiterated his lifelong commitment to fighting for constitutional rights and justice, likening the current struggle to a battle between good and evil, which motivated his support for Imran Khan. He highlighted the wrongful arrest of Khan on May 9, which incited public outrage. He defended Khan’s integrity, stating that the Toshakhana case was wrongly adjudicated and is now suspended, along with another case involving gifted jewelry, which was also dismissed.
He mentioned that numerous politicians, including Zardari, Nawaz Sharif, and Gilani, have received gifts from Toshakhana. Despite these cases, Imran Khan remained unperturbed, always prioritizing the nation and its people. Khosa criticized the Nawaz family for exploiting Pakistan’s resources repeatedly.
Regarding the Al-Qadir Trust case, Khosa claimed that Khan’s involvement was unfounded. He also dismissed the Cypher case, drawing a parallel to a similar incident during Bhutto’s era. Khosa expressed confidence that the current legal issues facing Khan would be resolved soon, including the case related to his marriage and period of iddat.
Khosa indicated that another baseless case was being prepared against Khan, which he believed would also be proven false. He urged adherence to constitutional principles for Pakistan’s progress, inviting various political parties, including Jamaat-e-Islami , Pakistan Awami Tehreek,GDA to join the movement against mandate thieves. He announced that a request for a Karachi rally had been filed in the Sindh High Court, with plans to participate fully.
Khosa highlighted that the state comprises the district, provincial, and federal governments, all bound by loyalty to the public and adherence to the constitution. He criticized the misuse of power and called for accountability for those responsible. Emphasizing national pride in the armed forces, Khosa condemned their involvement in political affairs, stating that they should refrain from political press conferences.
Khosa accused Nawaz Sharif of orchestrating a “London plan” to topple Imran Khan’s government and ensure PTI’s demise, alleging that the public responded strongly on election day. He called for the return of PTI’s seats, stating that without political stability, economic stability cannot be achieved, and that the country’s progress hinges on Imran Khan. Khosa reaffirmed PTI’s position of not negotiating with the establishment, declaring Imran Khan as their sole leader and policy guide.
PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh welcomed Khosa to Sindh, expressing optimism for imminent change. He asserted that PTI is the only party capable of addressing the nation’s issues. Sheikh criticized corrupt politicians and emphasized the need for rule of law and political stability for national progress.
The press conference concluded with prayers for the victims of a recent helicopter crash, including Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, and for the release of Imran Khan and other detainees.
