Secours Islamique France (SIF) organized a prestigious event titled “Water for Peace” at Government Boys High School Nawab Akbar bugti in Quetta on March 22nd, 2024 in commemoration of World Water Day. The event aimed to raise awareness among the next generation about responsible water usage and conservation.
The event, graced by esteemed guests including Shafiq Ahmed, Field Coordinator of Secours Islamique France Balochistan, and Program Manager Mir Ahmed Sami, highlighted the critical importance of water in sustaining life and addressing social challenges. Students were briefed on the significance of World Water Day and the urgent need to preserve water resources in the face of climate change challenges.
During the event, Wash Engineer Nasir Saleh shared insights into SIF’s global initiatives spanning 25 countries, focusing on sectors such as WASH, education, emergency response, livelihoods, disaster risk reduction, and climate change adaptation. The program underscored the vital role of youth in advocating for water conservation practices to secure a sustainable future.
Prizes were awarded to participating students, recognizing their engagement and commitment to promoting water conservation. Shields were also presented to teachers and guests for their valuable contributions to environmental awareness and education.
The “Water for Peace” event served as a beacon of inspiration, urging collective action to safeguard precious water resources for generations to come.
