SAKRAND: STUDENTS DEPRIVED OF TEXTBOOKS IN SHAHEED BENAZIRABAD DISTRICT

Rajkumar.

Sakrand:19 Aug. Despite the reopening of schools in Shaheed Benazirabad district after a two-and-a-half-month summer break, thousands of students are still without textbooks due to the negligence of the Education Department. According to the Pakistan Teachers Association (PTA), the department has failed to deliver textbooks to hundreds of schools, leaving 50% of students without books. The PTA blames the Education Department for putting the blame solely on teachers for educational losses, while they have failed to deliver textbooks even after the summer break. The teachers’ union says that the Sindh Education Department’s slogan “Sindh will progress through education” is being contradicted by the reality on the ground, where education is being destroyed. Even with additional funds, the textbooks are still incomplete, severely affecting students’ education. The Sindh government has only received 50% of the required textbooks, with a 50% shortage remaining.
