RIGHT TO INFORMATION ACT: A NEW ERA OF TRANSPARENCY IN BALOCHISTAN

In a significant milestone, the Right to Information Act has become a reality in Balochistan, marking a new era of transparency and accountability in the province. The Act, passed by the Balochistan Assembly in 2021, aims to empower citizens with the right to access information held by public bodies.

Addressing the closing ceremony of a two-day training program for Information Officers and Public Accountability Forum members, Imran Khan, Secretary Information, emphasized the importance of implementing the Act in all circumstances. “The Right to Information Act is now a reality, and we cannot ignore it. We must ensure its implementation in letter and spirit,” he said.

The training program, organized by AD Balochistan, brought together experts and stakeholders to discuss the nuances of the Act and its implementation. The program featured presentations by renowned experts, including Muhammad Noor Khetran DG PR, Mir Bahram Baloch, and Advocate Abdul Jabbar, who shared their insights on the Act’s significance and challenges.

With the successful implementation of the Right to Information Act, Balochistan is poised to become a model for transparency and accountability in the country. The Act’s impact is expected to be far-reaching, enabling citizens to hold public bodies accountable and promoting good governance in the province.
