Retaliatory Abduction Sparks Probe into FIA Operations.

PESHAWAR- Two officials from the Federal Investigation Agency FIA Peshawar, Inspector Sahadat and Sub-Inspector Zafar Iqbal, have been suspended following their release subsequent to an alleged abduction by an intelligence agency in Peshawar. Sources within the Federal Ministry of Interior Islamabad revealed that Inspector Sahadat Khan and Sub-Inspector Zafar Iqbal were reportedly abducted by an intelligence agency last week. During their ordeal, it is purported that crucial information was extracted from them during the interrogation. The abducted officers, along with Director FIA Nisar Tanoli and Deputy Director Zafar Iqbal, both stationed in Peshawar, allegedly engaged in facilitating the transportation of foreigners abroad using falsified documents from Peshawar Airport. This purported activity prompted the intervention of the intelligence agency, leading to their abduction and subsequent investigation. Amidst the unfolding situation, Assistant Director Iftikhar was also reportedly implicated, despite being unrelated to the alleged malpractices and he is a honest officer. Furthermore, Customs Peshawar Dry Port Superintendent Ajmal Khan and Assistant Director Passport Pir Khalid remain in custody, facing accusations of aiding terrorists and involvement in smuggling operations. FIA sources suggest that the abduction may be a retaliatory measure, stemming from the agency’s refusal to comply with certain directives. Moreover, concerns have been raised regarding the continued presence of Deputy Director Nadeem Zafar at Peshawar Airport, despite allegations of corruption and involvement in human trafficking. The appointment of Director FIA Kohat Zone, Inamullah Gandapur, as the inquiry officer to probe the abduction and subsequent events signifies an attempt to address the complexities surrounding the case. The situation underscores the need for a thorough investigation into the allegations of corruption and malpractice within the FIA ranks, with calls for accountability reaching the highest echelons of authority.
