QUETTA: The Balochistan Assembly unanimously adopted the joint condemnation resolution against the May 9, 2023 incidents demanding prompt action against the planners and facilitators involved in these incidents.
The joint resolution also demanded exemplary punishment to those involved in the incidents.
Besides the provincial assembly also adopted the resolution regarding dualization of Chaman-Karachi national highway and against the killing of senior journalist of Khuzdar Press Club, Muhammad Siddiq Mengal in its session.
The session of assembly was held with the Speaker Captain (Retd) Abdul Khaliq Achakzai in the chair.
The condemnation resolution against the May 9 incidents was tabled by the Provincial Minister, Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani while the resolution about dualization of Chaman-Karachi highway was presented by the Opposition member of assembly, Mir Zabid Ali Reki.
Similarly, the resolution against killing of Khuzdar journalist was tabled by the leader of Opposition, Mir Muhammad Younas Aziz Zehri.
In the resolution against May 9 incidents, it was pointed out the annoyed incensed people torched Jinnah House Lahore and other public and private property on May 9 last year.
They also targeted the military installations after arrest of leader of a political party. Besides the officers and personnel of law enforcement agencies were also targeted, which was condemnable, mentioned in the resolution.
The armed groups were provoked against the armed forces under a pre-planned conspiracy. It was also stated that what act could not be done by our enemy, it was done by some terrorists.
The resolution stated that the May 9, 2023 would always be remembered as black day in the history of Pakistan.
Through the resolution, the Balochistan Assembly House expressed complete confidence and solidarity with the armed forces besides fully supporting them.
It demanded of the federal government to award exemplary punishment to the planners and facilitators of May 9, 2023 incidents.
Speaking on the occasion resolution, Chief Minister said that the May 9 incidents were an organized conspiracy against the country.
He said that an attempt was made to create differences between the masses and institutions of the country on May 9, 2023.
However, the masses foiled the nefarious designs of the miscreants on that day, he added.
He said that the provincial assembly has unanimously rejected the May 9 incidents as he referred to the resolution adopted against them.
He appreciated the unity shown by the members of provincial assembly regarding May 9 incidents saying that the unity shown by the members in assembly is really appreciable.
He recalled that the President Zardari had raised the slogan of “Pakistan Khappay” after the assassination of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
He said that it was PPP that had foiled the conspiracy of dismantling the country at that time.
The Chief Minister on the occasion also condemned the killing of labourers in Gwadar and said that the terrorists would be dealt with iron hands.
Earlier, the provincial Ministers Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani, Noor Muhammad Dummar and other members of the provincial assembly Engineer Zamarak Khan Achakzia, Ghulam Dastagir Badini, Asfandyar Kakar, Mir Asim Kurd, spoke at length about the condemnation resolution and condemned the May 9 incidents.
They demanded prompt action against those involved in the saga of May 9, 2023. Those involved in the incidents must not be spared at all, the ministers and members of assembly demanded.
Later, the session of assembly was adjourned till 11:00 AM on May 11, 2023.
