Relatives of Slain Policeman Protest in Larkana, Demand Justice

Allah dad Chandio. Larkana. Nov.. 07
The family of Shahnawaz Sheikh, a policeman killed in a shootout near Larkana city last month, staged a protest outside the press club, expressing frustration over the lack of progress in arresting his killers. Sheikh’s wife, Bashiran, and other relatives claimed that the murder was sparked by a property dispute, and that Larkana police were involved in the shooting, which occurred while Sheikh was on duty at the Police Training Center.

The protesters urged the Inspector General of Sindh Police and the DIG (Police) Larkana to take swift action against the accused and ensure justice for the family. The incident highlights concerns about police accountability and the need for thorough investigations into alleged misconduct.

Similar cases, like the murder of George Floyd, have sparked widespread outrage and calls for police reform ¹. In that instance, former police officer Derek Chauvin was convicted of murder and sentenced to 22.5 years in prison. The Chauvin case demonstrates the importance of holding law enforcement officials accountable for their actions and ensuring that justice is served.

The Sheikh family’s plea for justice serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by families of victims of alleged police brutality and the need for transparency and accountability within law enforcement agencies.
