QUETTA: The Provincial Minister for Education, Ms. Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani presided over a meeting of the vice chancellors of public sector universities of the province here the other day.
The vice chancellors of 10 universities participated in the meeting, and briefed about the overall functioning and matters of their respective institutions.
The matters highlighted during the meeting were included the strength of students studying in the universities as well as the number of departments and faculties besides the shortage of funds being faced by them.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister Education said that there’s no denying the fact that education system has reached the brink of destruction in the province. She said that it is her dream and party’s vision to enforce better education system in the province.
She desired that the education system should be so good that the children from outside Balochistan may come to the province to acquire education.
She underlined the need to prepare a comprehensive policy to resolve the issue of universities, which are varying from each other.
In this regard, there is also a need to form think tank and council so as to find out solution together, she maintained.
She said that it is shameful for us that the teachers are protesting on roads for their salaries.
She said that she respects teachers a lot, and wants to secure respectable status for them in the society. She noted with concern that our scholars are leaving the country. She said that our scholars are our precious asset, and we would be requiring their services for education, she added.
She also expressed concern that three million children are still out of schools in the province while corruption is rampant.
She urged the vice chancellors to prepare 20-25 years plan for future course of action.
She pledged that she would fight the case of Balochistan everywhere as if we did nothing today, then the future generations would not forgive us.
She also asked the vice chancellors to send the details of necessary funds of their respective universities within a week.
