Quick Criminal Checks and Enhanced Election Security with New Apps.

By M.Ilyas
PESHAWAR- Deputy Inspector General of Police Information Technology, Irfan Tariq, stated that modern technology-based policing is imperative, and significant efforts are underway, guided by IGP Akhtar Hayat Khan, to promote it within the police department. Tariq expressed these views while addressing journalists during the inauguration of two new mobile apps – the e-Police Post App and the Safe Election App. These apps were developed in collaboration with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB) at the Central Police Office in Peshawar. The primary objective of the e-Police Post App is to alleviate the challenges faced by people during daily policing, particularly at various checkpoints. This app facilitates quick checking of stolen vehicles and criminal records on the spot, freeing passengers and vehicle owners from the inconvenience of prolonged waits. Similarly, the Safe Election App (SEA) aims to enhance the effectiveness and security of the election security plan, ensuring timely arrival of security staff at polling stations and prompt resolution of issues faced by staff in performing their duties. DIG IT Irfan Tariq emphasized that, in the modern age, considering public satisfaction and the needs of a democratic society, police apps are designed to deliver better services in a conducive environment. He highlighted the police department’s continuous efforts to adopt technology-based policing and innovative approaches to enhance people-friendly and public service-oriented policing. Tariq noted that the introduction of the e-Police Post app enables immediate identification of criminals and vehicles on the spot. The system is linked with the country’s police, facilitating inter-provincial transmission and exchange of vital information. Both apps are expected to bridge the gap between the police and the public, contributing to more effective policing by addressing criminals and stolen vehicles promptly.
