QUETTA: To utter surprise, the official price list of the edibles and other necessary commodities has totally been ignored in the provincial metropolis.
The essential commodities and daily used items are being sold above the officially notified price list issued by the district administration couple of months back.
Even the officially notified price list of essential commodities is also unavailable in various parts of the city.
For instance, the official price of mutton had been fixed as Rs. 1300 per kilogram while on the other hand, it is being sold @ Rs. 1900 in the open meat market. Similarly, the beef is being sold at Rs. 900 to Rs. 1,000 PKG while its official price was fixed as Rs. 700 PKG.
Moreover, the milk price was fixed by the administration @ Rs. 180 per liter but ironically it is being sold at Rs. 200 per liter. Similarly, the price of curd was fixed @ Rs. 200 PKG but it is being sold at Rs. 200 PKG with no check on the profiteering.
The official price of 20 KG bag of Ata (flour) has been fixed as Rs. 1550 (Food Dept) while it is being available in the market @ Rs. 2650.
In addition to this, the official prices of different dals (mong, Mash, masoor, chana) besides white chana and rice have also been violated in the metropolis.
Expressing deep concern over the unchecked profiteering, the consumers have demands of the district administration and provincial government to ensure implementation on the official price list.
