A review meeting on solid waste management in Quetta was chaired by Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Safraz Bugti. The meeting was attended by Parliamentary Secretary UPND, Asfandyar Khan Kakar, Chief Secretary Balochistan, Shakeel Qadir Khan, Secretary Municipalities, Abdul Rauf Baloch, Chairman BRA, Noor-ul-Haq Baloch, Commissioner Quetta Division, Hamza Shafqat, and CEO PPP Board, Faisal Khan, among others.
The meeting was briefed on the ongoing work of solid waste collection in Quetta city and its suburbs. The meeting was informed that the desilting of drains is in progress, and constructions on drains are being demolished. The meeting was also briefed on the burning of hospital waste and the ongoing campaign against encroachments.
The meeting decided to run the streetlights in Quetta on PPP mode. The meeting was also briefed on the establishment of a joint road for vendors in Quetta, and important decisions were taken regarding cafe licenses and slaughterhouses.
The meeting decided to take action against wall chalking on the main roads of Quetta to maintain the city’s beauty.
The Chief Minister directed that the cleanliness and waste disposal process should be extended to the suburbs of Quetta. The provincial government will provide all necessary funds for city cleanliness
