PUNJAB CHIEF MINISTER MOHSIN NAQVI INITIATES VITAL HEALTHCARE OVERHAUL AND LIVESTOCK SURGE IN DERA GHAZI KHAN

Chief Minister Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, conducted a comprehensive tour today, visiting the Institute of Cardiology, Veterinary Hospital, and Livestock Business and Incubation Center in Dera Ghazi Khan. Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi issued directives to ensure the full functionality of the Dera Ghazi Khan Institute of Cardiology and to urgently address the shortage of doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff. Additionally, he declared a livestock emergency in Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan, emphasizing the need for an immediate plan to boost livestock production.
Accompanied by provincial ministers Amir Mir and Ibrahim Murad, Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi thoroughly inspected the basement, ground floor, and first floor of the Institute of Cardiology. He scrutinized key facilities, including the gamma camera, CT scan, and MRI room, as well as the hospital’s cafeteria and waiting area. A detailed examination of the Cardiology Outpatient Department (OPD) was also conducted.
Addressing the media following the visit, Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi highlighted the relief being provided to patients in South Punjab through the Dera Ghazi Khan Cardiology Institute. He expressed the vision to elevate the institute’s standards in cardiology, equivalent to major cities, aiming to enhance hospital services and streamline patient experiences.
Present during the visit were Secretary Health, Secretary C&W, Commissioner Dera Ghazi Khan, and other officials. Later, Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi proceeded to the Veterinary Hospital and Livestock Business and Incubation Center. There, he observed the ultrasound process for goats in the ultrasound block and inquired about the facilities from a goat owner. The Chief Minister also reviewed registers and records in the hospital.
Emphasizing the need for a sustainable strategy, Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi directed the formulation of a plan within 7 days to increase livestock production by tenfold. Considering the rising demand for livestock in the UAE and other countries, he underscored recent positive discussions during a visit to the UAE regarding the export of livestock products. Assurances were given to implement all necessary measures, including providing top-quality vaccines, medicines, and injections for livestock in Punjab.
Provincial Minister Ibrahim Murad provided a briefing during the visit, with the presence of provincial secretaries, commissioners, and other officials.
