Karachi : PTI Sindh President and former Opposition Leader Haleem Adil Sheikh, addressing the media after his appearance at the Anti-Terrorism Court in Clifton, claimed that a false case was registered against PTI workers who were peacefully protesting at Numaish Chowrangi. He accused the police of being politically influenced, stating, “Criminals are roaming free while the police are targeting PTI member.”
Sheikh referenced the long march announced by PTI founder Imran Khan on May 25, 2022, describing it as the beginning of an era of authoritarianism. He explained that he was in Islamabad during the protests and was not named in the initial FIR of 25 May 2022, but was later added and arrested following his last bail from jail.
Imran Khan is expected to be released from jail soon, and Sheikh warned that any attempts to re-arrest him would be met with nationwide resistance. “If force is used to detain him again, the nation from KP to Karachi will march towards Adiala Jail,” he asserted. Sheikh emphasized that once the nation awakens, it becomes unstoppable.
Sheikh also condemned the use of force against those showing solidarity with the people of Palestine, specifically criticizing the treatment of Jamaat-e-Islami Senator Mushtaq Ahmed by the DIG. “The entire nation is denouncing the actions against the Palestinian cause on social media,” he said, urging the government to express solidarity with the Palestinian people and allow peaceful protests.
Regarding recent events, Sheikh revealed that PTI’s central secretary was attacked, and their office walls were demolished. However, this did not deter their spirits, as they held a core committee meeting on the road. “The judiciary and judges are now awake, and we are seeing the results,” he stated. He called for the immediate release of Imran Khan and the restoration of their stolen mandate, accusing the government of fraudulent attempts to keep their leader imprisoned.
Sheikh accused the administration of attacking their central office under the pretext of anti-encroachment operations when other tactics failed. He mentioned that on May 13, the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court ordered the administration to permit a PTI rally and meet with PTI representatives within ten days to finalize the arrangements. Despite this, their requests were ignored, leading them to file a contempt of court petition. Sheikh asserted that they would proceed with the rally all the PTI leadership Islamabad to KPK will attend the rally which will held in Karachi.
He concluded by declaring Imran Khan as a courageous leader of a proud nation and leader will always leader the nation, and dealer will always the deal. “It is this begging government that should apologize for robbing the nation of its rights,” Sheikh concluded.
