Karachi (Press Release, November 24, 2024): PTI Sindh spokesperson Muhammad Ali Baloch provided details about the PTI Sindh caravan, which began its journey from Karachi to Islamabad under the leadership of PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh. The caravan passed through various routes, reaching Shikarpur, where it faced significant resistance from the police.
According to the spokesperson, Shikarpur police halted the caravan, subjected party workers to violence, and shot at vehicles, puncturing their tires. Hundreds of workers were arrested and transported to undisclosed locations. Despite these challenges, a sit-in was staged under the leadership of Haleem Adil Sheikh. Following the protest, the caravan resumed its journey, arriving late at night in Sukkur.
In Sukkur, authorities blocked roads by digging trenches and placing barriers. The Sindh-Punjab border was sealed off with containers, cutting off transport routes. Some vehicles in the caravan were stopped at the border and near Pano Aqil, while others managed to take difficult routes to enter Punjab and continue toward Islamabad.
The PTI Sindh spokesperson accused the police of brutality across various cities, confiscating vehicles and assaulting workers. He confirmed that part of the caravan had already crossed into Punjab and was en route to Islamabad, with the entire caravan expected to reach the capital by tonight.
The spokesperson further criticized the government, stating, “The illegitimate Form 47 regime has unleashed violence on peaceful citizens. The police, meant to protect lives and property, have turned into adversaries. Our journey to Islamabad continues, and we will reach our destination tonight, God willing.”
He highlighted the severe disruptions caused by the government’s actions, including blocked roads, suspended motorways, closed transport hubs, and a shutdown of mobile services. He condemned these measures, accusing the authorities of paralyzing the nation to thwart a peaceful protest. “The entire nation has responded to the captain’s call, and everyone’s destination is D-Chowk, Islamabad,” he said.
