Karachi (October 21, 2024) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh, along with Khurram Sher Zaman and others have been acquitted in the case related to a disturbance at Malir Court during the appearance of former PTI leader Ali Zaidi. The court accepted their acquittal requests after Advocate Khalid Mehmood, representing the PTI leaders, argued that Haleem Adil Sheikh was in Saudi Arabia performing Umrah when the case was filed, and his inclusion in the case was based on malice. The police failed to provide any substantial evidence, leading to the acquittal of the PTI leaders.
The case had been registered at Malir City Police Station, accusing the PTI leaders of causing unrest. Following the acquittal, Haleem Adil Sheikh, speaking to the media, expressed relief, stating, “Another false case has been dismissed. Insha’Allah, truth and justice will prevail in the remaining cases as well.”
Sheikh referred to the recent constitutional amendment as a “dark chapter” in Pakistan’s history and claimed that the constitution had been attacked. He added, “Those who believe they have won are actually the ones who have lost. The 240 million people of Pakistan stand with Imran Khan, and the nation has rejected this demonic amendment.”
Sheikh further commented on the judiciary’s current state, saying, “It has been claimed that the judiciary has been stripped of its power, but in reality, it had already lost its strength. If the judiciary had its power, Imran Khan wouldn’t be in jail on false charges, our sisters and daughters wouldn’t be kidnapped for votes, our mandate wouldn’t be stolen, and the constitution wouldn’t be attacked.”
He also declared that the youth of Pakistan are ready to restore judicial independence and the constitution. He accused those who supported the recent constitutional amendment of betraying Pakistan, comparing Bilawal Bhutto’s actions to those of his grandfather, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who “broke the country,” and now his grandson “has broken the constitution.”
“Now, nothing can stop us,” Haleem Adil Sheikh added, announcing a nationwide protest movement. He criticized the government for “stealing the people’s vote and now using those stolen votes to pass self-serving legislation.”
PTI leader Khurram Sher Zaman also expressed happiness over the acquittal, saying, “We have been attending hearings for nearly two years in this false case. Thank God, the false case is over, and we have been acquitted. Haleem Adil Sheikh was on Umrah when this case was filed. We stand with Imran Khan today and will continue to stand with him in the future.”
