Immediately after taking charge as Director General Pakistan Standards & Quality Control Authority PSQCA, Ms. Ismat Gul Khattak, prioritized the issue of elimination of substandard / un-licensed product from the market in order to safeguard the rights of the consumers. In this regard, directives were issued to all Directorates of Conformity Assessment to carry our market surveillance in their respective zones.
Director CA Lahore Zone constituted three teams to raid different markets & stores for this task. The teams visited the stores and retail outlets in the areas of Gulberg, Shadman, Airport Road, DHA, Model Town, and Township covering large retail chains such as Imtiaz Mega Store, Al-Fatah Departmental Store, Swera Departmental Store, Euro Store, ANF Mart and other small retail outlets.
Furthermore, it was communicated to the store representatives to only stock & sale the products having valid CM License of PSQCA and are marked with duly authorized PS Mark. 
Failing that, stringent action against illegal, unlicensed, sub-standard food & non-food products would be initiated if the directives of the authority are not implemented.
Additionally, DG PSQCA, directed all the concerned officials of PSQCA to issue notices to the manufactures engaged in manufacturing of unlicensed products and take strict action under the PSQCA Act and Rules against non-compliant manufacturers.
DG PSQCA emphasized that only it is the topmost priority and responsibility of PSQCA to ensure public health and safety and to protect the rights of consumers across the country. 
Negligence in execution of this task will not be tolerated. PSQCA is earnestly striving to provide quality and standardized product to the general public.
