Protests Erupt in Sindh: Jeay Sindh Mahaz Chairman Riaz Chandio Takes a Stand

Jeay Sindh Mahaz Chairman, Riaz Chandio, has announced protests on October 26 in Matiari and Qambar Shahdadkot against the construction of six dams on the Indus River ¹. Chandio condemned the approval of the 26th Amendment Bill in the Senate and Assembly, labeling it a “dark day in history.” He criticized the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) for supporting the bill, accusing them of promoting injustice and darkness.

Chandio expressed his discontent with Zardari’s 17-year tenure, stating it yielded no benefits for the people, only personal gains. He also highlighted Sindh’s ongoing struggle to receive its rightful share of water under the 1991 Water Accord, despite 35 years having passed.
