QUETTA: The caretaker Provincial Minister for Information, Jan Achakzai has stated that at least 10 protestors have been arrested in Chaman on taking law in hand and blocking the NADRA office.
In an official statement issued here on Tuesday, Jan Achakzai said that the protestors were apprehended by the police along with other law enforcement agencies in Chaman.
He mentioned that the protestors had been allowed to lodge peaceful protest for last few months. However, the local police was forced to interfere after the provocative action of blocking the Passport office in Chaman, he added.
The caretaker Minister Information asserted that the condition of enforcement of passport and legal documents for across the border movement is the decision of state and as such no hurdle would be tolerated in this regard.
He also warned that stern action would be taken against those taking law in their hands.
Meanwhile, in another official statement issued the same afternoon, the caretaker Minister said that the situation in Chaman is under control of the local administration, which would not allow anyone to challenge writ of the government.
He said that the protestors are being dispersed by the local administration after removing hurdles created for blockage of the NADRA office in Chaman.
He said that local elders are holding talks with the protestors to remain peaceful.
While on the other hand, the passage of main Kozhak pass is also being cleared for the ambulances as well as other traffic.
Meanwhile, Jan Achakzai said that four under custody protesters were released on surety of the local tribal elders.
