Khyber. Landi kotal. Oct. 21 Aman Shinwari
Hundreds of hired teachers, along with local council representatives, staged a protest rally in Landikotal market, Khyber district, against the provincial government’s recent notification ¹. The protesters, including President of Tribal Districts Hired Teachers Association, Atif Afridi, and Deputy Chairman of Landikotal, Wali Muhammad Shinwari, demanded the reinstatement of hired teachers and payment of their dues.
Chanting slogans such as “Teach children, reinstate PTC teachers” and “Pay hired teachers their dues,” the protesters held play cards with inscriptions highlighting their demands ¹. The demonstration was led by prominent figures, including Jamil Khan and Atif Afridi, who condemned the government’s decision to terminate hired teachers as unjust.
Afridi emphasized that the government’s move was contradictory, as it claimed to recruit teachers for primary schools while simultaneously dismissing already hired staff ¹. He highlighted the significance of these teachers in improving the educational system in primary schools.
The protest reflects growing concerns among educators and local communities about the impact of the provincial government’s notification on education in the region.
