Process of wheat procurement by Food Department likely to start in Balochistan today

QUETTA: The much-delayed process of wheat procurement from the growers is likely to start in Balochistan from today (Monday).
The sources of Food Department told that the wheat procurement is going to start in the province with distribution of bardana (wheat bags) among the growers from Monday.
It may be mentioned here that the procurement of wheat was scheduled to start from May 6 as decided in a high level meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti in start of the current month.
It had been announced to purchase 500,000 bags of wheat from the growers this year. For the purpose, Rs. 5 billion were also approved with the directives to release Rs. 2.5 billion immediately.
The required among for purchase of bardana was also approved in the meeting chaired by the Chief Minister then.
The Food Department sources said that the teams of Department are already in Naseerabad and Jaffarabad for purchase of wheat.
The Food Department is expected to complete the process of procurement during the month of June.
