Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Chairs Meeting on Transitioning Balochistan’s Agricultural Tube Wells to Solar Energy*
Quetta, * – Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, chaired a pivotal meeting focused on transitioning Balochistan’s agricultural tube wells to solar energy. The meeting, attended via video link by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, included a detailed review of the transition plan.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced his upcoming visit to Balochistan within the next two days, emphasizing his commitment to addressing this critical issue. He assured that all efforts would be made to find a sustainable solution.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti welcomed the Prime Minister’s forthcoming visit and underscored the necessity of uninterrupted power supply for the province’s farmers, highlighting the urgency of transitioning to solar energy. He urged the federal government to expedite the release of PKR 40 billion to resolve the farmers’ issues swiftly. Bugti acknowledged the federal government’s long-term solution but stressed the immediate need for provincial funds to address the current challenges.
He noted that completing this project would reduce dependence on Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) for electricity and help decrease the circular debt.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated that Balochistan holds a special place in the nation’s heart, and the government aims to implement projects that benefit the province’s populace and resolve their issues.
The meeting was also attended by provincial ministers Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, Ali Madad Jatak, provincial assembly member Mir Asghar Rind, Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, and other relevant officials.
