Islamabad: Prime Minister Azad Kashmir Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq has said that he will continue to serve the state and its people with the same spirit and zeal with which he has been rendering his services for the last one year.
Prime Minister Haq said this while addressing a function which was organised by government minister Javed Butt on completion of one-year of the present government.
Sharing his one-year experience in running the affairs of the state, the PM said that the year-long journey was full of challenges and opportunities during which the government achieved many milestones.
“I am grateful to the state machinery for lending full support”, he said.
The PM said that the government has successfully rid the state of the mafias.
“Today, no one can dare to challenge the writ of the state”, he said.
The PM said that the budget was being utilized properly for development and well being of citizens. “So far, 60% of the budget has been spent” the PM said, adding that transparency has been key in government spendings. He said that the budget deficit of 8 billion was brought down to 1 billion.
” Major reforms have been introduced in road construction, social sector programs, health and education sectors”, he said, adding that biometric attendance in health and education sectors was made compulsory to ensure hundred percent attendance.
He said that health sector had witnessed great improvement during the past one year. “District hospitals are performing well”, he said, adding that the main objective of the government was to serve its people.
“People don’t pay taxes because they have have lost their faith in the state institutions”, he said, adding that the people people would pay taxes once their trust in the state institutions is restored.
He said that the government was providing more than 20 billion in subsidy.
The subsidy, he said, was being provided in the form of cheap food and electricity.
He said that an endowment fund of ten billion rupees was being established to provide financial assistance to the deserving people.
Regarding the settlement of Kashmiri refugees, the PM said that PC1 of the land for the refugees would be prepared before June 30.
He said that it quite astonishing to see that those who violated rules and regulations were boastfully talking about merit.
He said that the government has appointed chairman public service commission on merit and no person even the prime minister or any minister can dare to interfere or recruit any person of his choice in the government sector.
Commenting on the rumours of no-confidence motions brought against him, the Prime Minister said that since he took charge of the government, he has been hearing all this but these imaginary motions have proved to be nothing but a hoax.
About Indian minister’s provocative statements, the PM said that the Indian Home Minister’s dream to create chaos in Azad Kashmir would be foiled. “Indian touts in the region will be dealt with iron hands”, he said.
” Inshallah, Kashmiris will continue to achieve the goal to become a part of Pakistan”, he said.
The PM paid rich tributes to the army chief Gen. Asim Munir for his emotional attachment with Kashmiris’ freedom struggle.
The AJK premier thanked Government Minister Javed Butt for organizing a wonderful ceremony on the completion of one year of the government. He also thanked the allied parties for their support and cooperation.
On this occasion, former President and Prime Minister Sardar Muhammad Yaqub Khan, Government Ministers Abdul Majid Khan, Ms. Taqdees Gilani, Sardar Amir Altaf, Sardar Javed Ayub, Mian Abdul Waheed, Sardar Zia Qamar, Chaudhry Muhammad Rashid, Chaudhry Muhammad Arshad, Chaudhry Azhar Sadiq, Ms. Imtiaz Naseem and others were also present.
