Lahore, …… A delegation of newly elected members of Pakistan Psychological Association (PPA) led by President PPA, Rafia Rafiq, met Governor Punjab, Muhammad Balighur Rehman here today at Governor House Lahore.
Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman said that mental health is very important. He said that many psychological problems can be solved by adopting positive thinking. He said that seminars and workshops should be organized for awareness among people about psychological health.
Governor Punjab asked the PPA members to specially guide the new graduates in psychology. He said that after the flood, the health teams of the medical universities went to flood hit areas and provided psychological counseling to the flood afectees to recover from the trauma.
On this occasion, President PPA Rafia Rafiq said that Pakistan Psychological Association is conducting online voluntary trainings for all sections of the society. He said that PPA is providing counselling to special persons and people from all walks of life. The delegation comprised Senior Vice President Tanveer Kayani, General Secretary Irfan Kisana, Dr. Farhana Kazmi, Vice President KPK. Rukhsana Mahmood Additional Secretary and officials of the organization from all over the country.

Later, Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman distributed medals and degrees to 277 position holder students and 79 PhD scholars on the inaugural day of the 10th convocation of the University of Sargodha. Chairman Higher Education Commission, Professor Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed and Vice Chancellor University of Sargodha, Professor Dr. Qaiser Abbas, were also present on this occasion.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the convocation, Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman congratulated the graduates and scholars . He expressed hope that the graduating students will add prestige to the institution and faculty through their unique research oriented mind. The Punjab Governor praised the university for achieving a special position in the field of education and research at the national and international level, adding that being ranked second among the universities of Punjab and third in Pakistan in teaching shows that the University of Sargodha is heading in the right direction. Addressing the students, he said that the country is faced with many economic problems at the moment, it is necessary that the students should establish their identity around the world through new inventions and research. Governor Punjab said that the students should play a positive role in the society with the positive and constructive thinking.
Chairman Higher Education Commission Professor Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, while addressing the convocation, emphasized the importance of educating women so that they can also play their role in the development of the country.
Earlier, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaiser Abbas gave detailed information about the ongoing educational and research activities in the University of Sargodha. He said that more than 29,000 degrees of various programs will be distributed in the tenth convocation, which will last for three days, including 13,326 degrees of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, 5,638 degrees of the Faculty of Sciences, 8,068 degrees of the Faculty of Social Sciences, 851 degrees of Medical and Health Sciences, 555 degrees of Faculty of Computing and Information Technology, 534 degrees of Faculty of Agriculture, 313 degrees of Faculty of Pharmacy and 171 degrees of Faculty of Engineering and Technology . On this occasion, the Governor of Punjab also gave the best teacher award to Professor Dr. Shahid Rasool.
